Alta is developing the bicycle and pedestrian master plan for Altamont, NY, a rural community northwest of Albany. The plan includes specific recommendations for the three state roads that run through the community, along with connections to regional trails and local destinations.
The Village of Altamont has been proactive in improving the quality of life for its residents and commercial partners. In 2006, the Village completed their Comprehensive Plan that included an extensive public involvement component. Maintaining existing linkages between neighborhoods and community amenities such as parks, gardens, and village scale shopping, and expanding on such linkages, has been and continues to be an area of emphasis in the Altamont community as it strives to build upon the historical model of village life even as its stature as a residential community of choice increases in the 21st century. To further enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike, the Village of Altamont has contracted with Alta Planning + Design to create a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan to guide the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
