We are always seeking motivated professionals with backgrounds in planning, engineering, landscape architecture, or related fields. This encompasses a broad range of interesting topics, as you can see from our focus area and services pages - everything from trail and greenway planning/design to safe routes to school, bicycle and pedestrian master plans and corridor designs, transit projects, research, analysis, demand projections, safety planning, encouragement programs, and visionary policy work. It helps to have experience both with government and consulting; best are skills in both the planning and design fields, excellent writing and presentation skills, high levels of competency in computer software such as ArcView, Microstation CADD, and the Microsoft and Adobe product suites. And, it helps to have an interest in and passion for what we do.

Note: Our sister company Alta Bicycle Share, Inc., is interested in people with experience in operations management. Both companies also often have openings in administration, finance, and IT.
Alta has 22 offices throughout the United States and Canada, with the largest office in Portland, Oregon, our headquarters, and Berkeley, California. Most of our other offices have two to ten staff. All our offices are closely linked to each other, and staff get the opportunity to work on projects in multiple locations. The ability to travel is important, although we are flexible and understanding of those limited by family situations.
Interns and entry-level staff enjoy getting to work on a rich variety of projects with a high degree of responsibility and valuable on-the-job experience. Tasks can include:
