As a company involved in developing sustainable transportation and recreation, environmental considerations are paramount in all our work. Our focus is on developing solutions that respect the natural environment yet provide improved access for non-motorized modes. We consider environmental constraints such as stream corridors, wetlands and wildlife habitats. We forecast user numbers and project their natural impact. We solicit public input through meetings and workshops, and we plan opportunities for community environmental education into the design elements.
Environmental consideration also means complying with state and federal environment impact analysis requirements. We can include an environmental analysis covering the full range of topical areas as part of a larger scope, or perform one as a separate project. Through the numerous environmental analyses we’ve performed on past projects, Alta has pioneered many contemporary environmental practices in bicycle and pedestrian planning and design. We’re dedicated to creating sustainable options for transportation and recreation—without harming anything else.
