I have chosen to join and remain in the field of Landscape Architecture because I truly believe that, with each project we do, we can make the world a better place for our children and grandchildren. I subscribe to the old Native American adage: "We do not inherit the earth; we borrow it from our grandchildren."
Carl earned an Associate Degree in Landscape Design from Temple University and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture Degree from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He has worked for government agencies, large and small architecture, and engineering firms, and in the design-build world. He was the sole proprietor of Evergreen Landscape Associates and a founding partner of KMS Design Group, LLC. In early 2017, he joined Alta as a Principal.
His career includes a wide variety of projects for township, borough, county, state, federal, and non-profit agencies, along with a variety of private clients. Projects he has completed include park, greenway, trail and recreation planning; site and landscape planning and construction; community building; streetscape design; construction document preparation; and, construction contract administration.
He is active in the American Society of Landscape Architects, and served as the Pennsylvania/Delaware Chapter’s Vice President, President, Member-at-Large, and representative to the Society’s National Board of Trustees. He is the Chapter’s Public Awareness coordinator. He is on Philadelphia University’s School of Landscape Architecture Advisory Board and an adjunct professor, teaching courses in construction document preparation and professional practice. He serves on the Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee, the Montgomery County Park, Trail and Heritage Sites Advisory Board, and the Bike Montco Steering Committee. Carl is a Registered Landscape Architect in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
