I am inspired by working with local communities and educating people of all ages and backgrounds about the benefits of active transportation. I believe that promoting bicycling, walking, transit, and ridesharing to the public is necessary to keep our air and water clean and preserve resources for future generations.
Derek has dedicated his professional life toward promoting bicycling, walking, public transportation, and ridesharing to diverse communities across the country. His expertise is in transportation planning and policy, individualized marketing, and program evaluation. Derek earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology at Indiana University and a master’s degree in Applied Anthropology at Oregon State University. When Derek is not working to make our cities more livable and sustainable, you might catch him surfing along the Oregon coast, bicycling across town, or playing bluegrass mandolin at a local café. He enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter in the great outdoors.
