Designer I (Baltimore, MD)
Alta Planning + Design is seeking a design professional in the field of landscape architecture for our Baltimore office. This is a unique opportunity for a design professional to positively impact communities large and small across the east coast by crafting active transportation plans, designing streetscapes, creating wayfinding design packages, and reimagining parks and civic gathering spaces.
You will contribute to the production of high-quality, accurate and complete design documents, reports and analyses. You will assist in Alta’s public outreach efforts and in meeting project deliverables. You will solidify Alta’s reputation as a trusted advisor and expert, and be an integral part of the growth of Alta’s Baltimore team.
We are seeking a professional who has knowledge of, and interest in, the field of active transportation, parks and recreation, and wayfinding. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the design process, particular as it relates to street, trail, and park design, and is looking for the next challenge in their career. As a Designer at Alta, you will need at least a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field with three – five (3-5) years in a consulting environment or public entity. Skills critical to leaping into this position are advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and AutoCAD. Other desired skills are possessing an intermediate knowledge of Civil 3D and ARCGIS. You must have the ability to create photo renderings, concept sketches, construction documents, planning documents, and other similar materials. Experience with wayfinding design and placement planning should be highlighted in your portfolio. Any group work or professional work presented must be accompanied by a description of your role in the project.
