Jose Palma

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and my interest in planning came from my involvement in a high school program called the Transportation Career Academy. I learned the early stages of planning, transportation planning, and the value of community and inclusivity. My experience studying abroad, living and studying in the Central Valley, and my interaction with many groups of people have motivated me to pursue a career in planning. I am very happy to be part of the Alta team and help communities improve transportation infrastructure, inform more people about active transportation projects, and make communities safer.

Jose has a background in community outreach, community planning, engineering, and Transportation Demand Management (TDM). He has worked with local municipalities, state agencies, non-profit organizations, and corporate entities to deliver transportation specific General Plan Updates, participate in Complete Street Analysis and Design and TDM program management and support. Jose is a native Spanish speaker and strives to create an inclusive environment where planners, engineers, and community members can work together to build a more sustainable and equitable future. Jose’s experience with a dual degree in Transportation Engineering and City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo gives him a unique perspective in improving active transportation and problem-solving last-mile access.
