The master plan provides a comprehensive vision, recommendations, and a work plan for improving bicycling conditions at Buffalo State University.

The significant portion of the effort is to integrate the campus facility recommendations with the City of Buffalo’s evolving bicycle network. Alta was selected by the City to develop their citywide bike facilities master plan, to help facilitate seamless transitions between the campus and city at large.

The college contracted with Alta to conduct a transportation assessment focused on bicycling and to develop a bicycling master plan for the campus. The master plan provides a comprehensive vision, recommendations, and a work plan for enhancing bicycling conditions at  Buffalo State University.

Alta worked with the university to develop a strategy plan that will assist the university in achieving Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) status by the League of American Bicyclists. Alta developed a bicycle-facilities master plan for the 12,000-student, 125 acre campus. The master plan featured recommendations for on-street facilities, new paths, enhanced bike parking–both indoors and out–and a full array of education, encouragement, evaluation, and enforcement programs. Alta’s work also included a detailed implementation plan for priority projects and programs that will lead to BFU recognition.
