The Manhattan Bicycle and Pedestrian Systems Plan will provide a 20-year vision to expand and enhance the community’s walking and biking infrastructure, and develop a common vision for walking and biking that encompasses the needs of all ages and abilities.

Community engagement efforts for this plan included the design and installation of several neighborhood demonstration projects. In addition to engaging community members around the Systems Plan, demonstration projects helped the city test and formalize a demonstration project process.

The planning process resulted in two guiding documents developed concurrently during the project: The Systems Plan identifies and prioritizes infrastructure projects and program recommendations, and the Mobility Manual provides a repository of technical guidance for staff.
