The City of Evansville envisioned better health, livability and equity through a well-planned and interconnected parks system in Evansville.
Alta developed a Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which envisions better health, livability and equity through a well-planned and interconnected parks system in Evansville. The plan follows the National Parks and Recreation Association best practice guidelines for conservation, health, wellness, and social equity in parks planning to recommend short-term action steps and long-term opportunities to serve residents of all ages and needs with diverse park and program types. The plan collected input from a diverse stakeholder group of community leaders and residents on spatial and programming needs for Evansville parks. The plan also utilized sophisticated GIS analyses such as the Alta Live, Work, Play, Learn Analysis to help identify needs throughout the parks system. Recommendations based on this input incorporated lessons learned from successful parks systems throughout the Country to develop an action plan for the Evansville Parks and Recreation department to follow in achieving their vision and goals for the parks system. Alta concurrently developed a bicycle and pedestrian master plan for the city.
