Alta developed a citywide plan for a 50-station bike share system in Pittsburgh. Our work included demand analysis, business planning and a system-wide master plan that defined the overall service area and places for future expansion. Alta also led the site planning and permitting effort for station sites on both city and state property.
The client was a non-profit entity, which included members from the corporate community, representatives from philanthropic foundations, and the advocacy group Bike Pittsburgh, and was put together to bring bike share to the city. Alta’s efforts included the creation of outreach materials and assisting the non-profit with the recruitment of a system sponsor in face-to-face meetings and presentations. Our collective efforts led to the Highmark/Allegheny Health Network company becoming the primary sponsor for the bike share system that launched in May of 2015.
