Alta's Web Development team built online open houses for the City of Portland on a customized web-based map application that allowed project staff to easily export and manage all data submitted by the public.

Building on the adopted 2035 Central City Plan to accommodate significant growth while reducing drive alone trips, Alta collaborated with CH2M (now Jacobs) as a prime consultant to create a strategic investment plan for Portland’s Central City. Alta defined a network of low-stress protected bikeways and pedestrian safety improvements that will enable consideration of priority investments at a network level prior to defining individual projects.

For public engagement, the Alta’s Visual Communications Design team developed a robust series of online open houses to solicit community input on the planning process. Alta built the online open houses on a customized web-based map application that allowed project staff to easily export and manage all data submitted by the public. Interactive elements included a survey, public input map (users submit needs and recommendations in the form of makers and/or routes) and a project prioritization map allowing users to read about and give individual feedback on over 50 potential project locations.
